Music to Scare the Heck Out of You

Some time ago, I started picking up St. Paul Sunday on NPR on my way into Church. They've played a couple pieces that have been truly disturbing. That got me to thinking about other pieces of music--orchestral and vocal--that could instill terror or at least some sort of emotional disturbance. I used to much moodier, so some of these are already in my collection. Here's a list for your consideration:

What pieces of music have moved you? Scared the heck out of you? Sent you to different emotional place just by hearing them once?

Just curious.

Aaron Copeland "Fanfare for the Common Man" is my favorite of all time. It makes me long for the West and feel a bit homesick. My family are opportunists so we have lived many places, but something about the wide open spaces pulls at one's spirit.

I also like Beethoven's Pastorale.

Hi Bart,

I enjoyed them all, especially the Kate Bush piece. However, you say that you used to be much moodier. Jeez Looeze, Bart I am much moodier, but I also take Wellbutrin;). Good stuff.
